Guana Totonato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve

The GTM Research Reserve is a collaboration between Florida's Department of Environmental Protection and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The Reserve covers74,000 acres of coastal lands in northeast Florida and offers interpretive exhibits, aquariums, classrooms, teaching and working laboratories, an auditorium and an outdoor amphitheater overlooking the Guana River Aquatic Preserve. Our Coastal Training Program offers trainings for professionals on issues of concern in our local community including watershed, invasive plants, and much more.

Audubon Society of the Everglades

Audubon Society of the Everglades (ASE) turns 50 this year! We educate and inspire people to conserve wildlife, especially birds, and the environment that supports them. ASE promotes a conservation ethic and fosters an appreciation and understanding of the natural world by offering a variety of free, fun, science-based educational programs and activities. We do this to help empower participants with the knowledge and means to be informed citizens and effective environmental advocates for the policies that protect wildlife and its habitat.

Camp Chowenwaw County Park was purchased to conserve rapidly diminishing open space, preserve the property's upland and wetland natural communities, protect and if possible enhance the site's suitability for listed species that have used or could use the habitats, restore and interpret the unique historic resources on the site, and provide educational and recreational opportunities for the public.

Gugliotti Environmental and Conservation Education Services

Gugliotti Environmental and Conservation Services – Nature Teach is a Florida-focused organization that specializes in connecting children and families to Florida’s great outdoors through education and hands-on experiences.

Services include: On or off site Field Trips, Hands-on Programs for all Ages, Youth Camp Experiences, Family Outdoor Recreation Clinics, Environmental and Conservation Curriculum, Teacher and Youth Group Leader Training, Environmental and Conservation Events, and Fundraising Activities, Events, and Resources.

Freeport Parks and Recreation

The mission of the Freeport Parks and Recreation Department is to enhance the quality of life for all citizens of this community by providing passive and active recreational, educational , and cultural programming services for all age groups.

Our community currently supports Dixie Youth Baseball/Softball, recreational basketball and volleyball, soccer, youth football, ultimate Frisbee, disc golf, tennis, municipal pool, ZUMBA, pool aerobics, hiking trails, cycling, and we have an interactive playground.

Riverbend Park

Riverbend provides a variety of hiking, biking, wading, canoeing and wildlife watching programs for private, public and school groups offering a closer look at the environmental and historical aspects of Riverbend. School programs are tailored to meet grade curriculum objectives. Fun special events for the public are offered throughout the year and summer camp programs are available in the summer.
