The mission of the Marine Science Center is to create innovative and inspiring marine education experiences which empower the lives of our students and guests. We also use advanced training and professional partnerships to provide outstanding rehabilitation of sea turtles, seabirds, and contribute to the emerging field of conservation medicine.
The GTM Research Reserve is a collaboration between Florida's Department of Environmental Protection and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The Reserve covers74,000 acres of coastal lands in northeast Florida and offers interpretive exhibits, aquariums, classrooms, teaching and working laboratories, an auditorium and an outdoor amphitheater overlooking the Guana River Aquatic Preserve. Our Coastal Training Program offers trainings for professionals on issues of concern in our local community including watershed, invasive plants, and much more.
Life Sports Fitness is a tax-exempt organization that delivers high quality, fun, educational fitness programs for children. We provide school-age children with out-of-school-time (OST) youth development options in year-round programs teaching life skills and core values via sports, fitness and positive mentorship. We pride ourselves in our ability to teach, motivate and inspire children by unleashing their potential.
Camp Chowenwaw County Park was purchased to conserve rapidly diminishing open space, preserve the property's upland and wetland natural communities, protect and if possible enhance the site's suitability for listed species that have used or could use the habitats, restore and interpret the unique historic resources on the site, and provide educational and recreational opportunities for the public.
Our mission is to introduce and educate children about their outdoor environment, nature, wildlife, and neighborhoods (greens spaces, beaches, preserves). To offer children and families opportunities to get outside and appreciate what is in their "backyards."
Marion County provides outdoor and resource-based recreation
programs that enhance the quality of life for residents. Recreation and
play are important for healthy lifestyle, and we utilize a number of parks
and natural resources to help build stronger families. While recreational
activities are fun it is important to note that they provide life lessons
that build success and happiness among youth and adults.
The mission of the Freeport Parks and Recreation Department is to enhance
the quality of life for all citizens of this community by providing
passive and active recreational, educational , and cultural programming
services for all age groups.
Our community currently supports Dixie Youth Baseball/Softball, recreational basketball and volleyball, soccer, youth football, ultimate Frisbee, disc golf, tennis, municipal pool, ZUMBA, pool aerobics, hiking trails, cycling, and we have an interactive playground.
Our mission is to help youth develop life and workforce skills through experiential learning. We currently serve 6000-7000 youth per year through Science, Citizenship, and Healthy Living programs throughout schools and community sites. Programs include school enrichment, afterschool, clubs, competition and camps. Outdoor offerings include a wide variety of 4-H Project Areas and Curriculum such as PLT, Project Wild/Flying Wild and Project Wet.
Florida Keys Community College is an open-access, educational institution dedicated to serving the intellectual, diverse, cultural, and occupational needs of the Florida Keys as well as the global community. The college is committed to student-centric academic programs and services, workforce development, continuing education diverse partnerships, electronically delivered instruction, and sustainable practices that prepare students for personal success and responsible citizenship.
